GIVE GOD TIME

Prayer and Praise

Jesus said, “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” Matthew 26:40, so we start our journey of giving God time to work in us, by praying along with this hymn; WE BELIEVE

A WORD IN YOUR EAR

John 13:31-38 ‘Love One Another’

Last time, Judas walked out of the Passover meal. Jesus waited until Judas left the last Passover meal before predicting Peter’s denial. Now He knows that even his closest friends will desert Him… and He knows it in advance…

31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.

33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come.

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?

Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.

38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times …’ (NIV)

Prayer and Worship

“… He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23.

Jesus taught His disciples what we call ‘The Lord’s Prayer’; (Luke 11).

Listen here to Albert Malotte’s ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever;- Amen

Second reading. John 13:31-38.  Complete Jewish Bible

31 After Y’hudah (Judah) had left, Yeshua (Jesus) said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. 32 If the Son has glorified God, God will himself glorify the Son, and will do so without delay.

33 Little children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and, as I said to the Judeans, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ now I say it to you as well.

34 “I am giving you a new command: that you keep on loving each other. In the same way that I have loved you, you are also to keep on loving each other. 35 Everyone will know that you are my talmidim (disciples) by the fact that you have love for each other.”

36 Shim‘on Kefa (Simon Peter) said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Yeshua (Jesus) answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now; but you will follow later.”

37 “Lord,” Kefa (Peter) said to him, “why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!”

38 Yeshua (Jesus) answered, “You will lay down your life for me? Yes, indeed! I tell you, before the rooster crows you will disown me three times.”
