Give God Time

Prayer and Praise

Jesus said, “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” Matthew 26:40, so we start our journey of giving God time to work in us, by praying along with this hymnO for a thousand tongues to sing…

A Word in your ear

John 4:43-54 Jesus heals from a distance:-

(His 2nd ‘Godlike’ miracle).

43 After the two days, he went on from there toward the Galil (Galilee).

Jesus had just spent two days in Samaria, where He had found far more faith than existed amongst the Jews – who themselves rejected the Samaritans.

44 Now Yeshua (Jesus) himself said, “A prophet is not respected in his own country.”

Jesus coined the phrase here, “A prophet is not respected in his own country.”

45 But when he arrived in the Galil (Galilee), the people there welcomed him, because they had seen all he had done at the festival in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem); since they had been there too.

Note the huge difference in welcome between the Jews in Jerusalem and those in the northern part of Israel, in Galilee. (Cf. John 2:12-25).

46 He went again to Kanah (Cana) in the Galil (Galilee), where he had turned the water into wine.

An officer in the royal service was there; his son was ill in K’far-Nachum (Capernaum). 47 This man, on hearing that Yeshua (Jesus) had come from Y’hudah (Judah) to the Galil (Galilee), went and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 Yeshua (Jesus) answered, “Unless you people see signs and miracles, you simply will not trust!”

Jesus tested the man, to see his motives.

49 The officer said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”

The man was in earnest, and continued to beg for help.

50 Yeshua (Jesus) replied, “You may go, your son is alive.” The man believed what Yeshua (Jesus) said and left.

God always hears a cry for mercy. In this instance, Jesus healed the son remotely.

51 As he was going down, his servants met him with the news that his son was alive. 52 So he asked them at what time he had gotten better; and they said, “The fever left him yesterday at one o’clock in the afternoon.” 53 The father knew that that was the very hour when Yeshua (Jesus) had told him, “Your son is alive”; and he and all his household trusted.

The end result? ‘All his household trusted’.

54 This was a second sign that Yeshua did; he did it after he had come from Y’hudah (Judah) into the Galil (Galilee).

This was the 2nd ‘Godlike’ miracle which John witnessed Jesus doing. (John 2:1-11 – the water into wine being the first.)

—-Summary

This was the 2nd ‘Godlike’ miracle which John witnessed Jesus doing. (John 2:1-11 – the water into wine being the first.)

  • Today’s Verse… Who is Jesus? John 4: 44; Now Yeshua (Jesus) himself said, “A prophet is not respected in his own country.”

Today’s Challenge

A Roman official believed that Jesus could heal his son even from far away. Jesus was touched by the faith of a man who was not even a Jew… He healed the son because of his faith.  Do you have the faith in Jesus that this Gentile army officer had?

Prayer and Worship

“… He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23.

Jesus taught His disciples what we call ‘The Lord’s Prayer’; (Luke 11). Listen here to Albert Malotte’s ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever;- Amen.
