A WORD IN YOUR EAR

 Luke 20: v.45 – 21: v.4 The heart

Luke 20: 45-47 Warnings against religious leaders

45Then in the hearing of everyone He said to His disciples,

46“Beware of the religious teachers who like to walk about in their long coats, and go for a walk where people are in the marketplace in order to receive lots of greetings, and have the highest seats in the worship centre and the best rooms at feasts. 47They take widows houses, and try to make themselves look good with long prayers. It’s this kind of person who receives even harsher judgement”.

Chapter 21: 1-4 God looks on the heart.

He looked up and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the money box. 2He then also saw a poor widow casting into it the two smallest mite coins. 3He said,

“I am telling you that this poor widow has put in more money than all those others. 4For all these have only given what they didn’t have any other use for, but she has given what she needed just to stay alive”.

—-Summary

Prayer, Praise and Worship

“… He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” Matthew 14:23.

Jesus taught His disciples what we call ‘The Lord’s Prayer’; (Luke 11).

Listen here to Albert Malotte’s ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever;- Amen.

Prayer suggestions;-

  1. The world. (ie ‘For those in authority.’)
  2. The ‘suffering church.’ https://barnabasfund.org/nz/pray/daily-prayer/#previous-dates
  3. Your own situation. (Suggest ‘needs’ rather than ‘wants’.)
